How neumind can support delivery of prospective memory based therapies.
Prospective memory (memory for retaining and carrying out a future intention) is often impaired following a brain injury. So we knew it would be essential to include reminder setting and scheduling as a core feature in neumind.
There is strong research evidence that prompting technology can improve prospective memory for people with acquired brain injury (ABI). Compensatory technology is recommended for the rehabilitation of memory.
Even if you have a reminder system, people still need to be able to use it. Research by our partners at Glasgow University has highlighted the difficulties those undertaking brain injury rehabilitation face to get the best out of reminding technology.
For example, it was found that people with an ABI using a scrolling user interface (typical in apps like Google Calendar) often missed important information when entering reminders. When a step-by-step interface was used instead they missed less; participants made two fewer mistakes for every three reminders set. Based on this research neumind has a step-by-step user interface to help people make sure they are setting accurate reminders.
